In Islam there are five pillars. One of them is Fasting. This fasting which is included in the five pillars of Islam specifically refers to the obligatory fasts during the month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the 9th month, and within this month Muslims fast during daylight hours – i.e. from dawn until dusk.
Muslims follow the lunar calender, meaning that the mont of Ramadan is approximately 29/30 days. All Muslims across the globe understand how many days there could be in Ramadan.
So if hypothetically speaking, I say I am a Christian who was a devout Muslim until the age of 18 and I fasted during the month of Ramadan, but then come out and say that Ramadan is a month consisting of 40 days rather than the average 29/30, what does this say about me?
Assuredly you will instantly think I am a liar when I say I am an ex devout Muslim who prayed, fasted and did everything that a Muslim does would you not? This is exactly what Ergun Caner has done. It is not possible that a lunar month can have 40 days!
You can see from the clip, that Ergun Caner is stating that there are 40 days in the month of Ramadan.
The problem here is clearly evident.
If one were to make a similitude of Ergun Caner’s error, it would be like saying that “I am an ex devout Christian and for 18 years I went to Sunday church services on a Wednesday, but I am now a Muslim” What would you think of me if I said this?
A Christian would without doubt point his finger and say that I was not really a Christian.
Surely if I practised Christianity and went to church until the age of 18, I should know what day I went?
The same way a person who claims to be an ex devout Muslim says they fasted during the month of Ramadan, and each time the month consisted of 29 or 30 days ought to know how many days he fasted.
Ergun's claim of being a ex devout Muslim is clearly a lie. If he fasted during each month Ramadan until the age of 18, then why does he not know that Ramadan consists of 29/30 days?
Besides, Ergun specifically mentions that Ramadan is "40 days on the lunar calendar". Which lunar month consists of 40 days?
